About

Three Counties Flood Risk Assessment was formed ten years ago. It was originally set up as a regional operation based on its headquarters in Gloucestershire. The Managing Director, David Eggleton, saw a need for this service and very soon it was obvious that expansion was needed to meet national demand.

Our performance
So far my company has carried out many hundreds flood risk assessments and we are very proud to say that we have a 99% success rate. Obviously we do not offer a 100% guarantee of success but these figures alone are a very clear indication of our ability to perform for our clients.

Who we work with
We have carried out FRAs for supermarkets, major institutional developments, race courses, sports stadia, large housing and industrial estates and have even been involved in a project to double the size of a town.

We carry out FRAs right across the board, from building extensions to major developments because clients need to know where they can come for a complete service.

By now a lot of our work is won on recommendation and repeat business – a clear sign that clients are impressed with our performance and our duty of care to them and their projects. This is because we never shirk our responsibilities.

We offer 100% commitment
We do not just write a flood risk assessment report and then walk away. We stay with the client throughout the planning process and field any queries as part of our continuing commitment to the clients project. In certain cases this can take a long time.

The one flood risk assessment that stands out is one we did in Surrey where the initial reaction by the EA was a resounding no to the proposal. We worked away on it for 18 months and in the end persuaded the EA to withdraw its objection – ending up with a very happy client. We take our duty of care very seriously and adopt a pro-active approach to every flood risk assessment undertaken.

Our company philosophy
Our company philosophy is that you only gain results by adopting a civil and respectful attitude to the authorities. They are professionals like us and will only respond actively by being treated that way. We now have many good contacts in the Environment Agency because of this. Anybody who wants to storm the portals of the authorities by adopting a completely combative attitude will soon find their file gathering dust on a shelf in the authorities offices.

Underlying the company philosophy is the attitude that nothing is impossible. The guidance notes from the National Planning Policy Framework and PPS25 guidance are there to help the developer – if you read them in an open minded way without thinking they are there to stop development rather than assist the developer.
