Flood Level and Flood Pathway Flood Risk Assessment

Ascertain flood level and pathway for when information is not available for an FRA.

This is where a more specialised methodology is required. It may be that the EA cannot supply a flood level in which case the assessor has to use more advanced methodology.

In certain cases an analysis of the site and off site levels to Ordnance Datum can be carried out to ascertain where the flood water would go in the event of a blockage of the water course. Measures can then be considered to ameliorate the possible flood threat.

This is where computerisation is used to build up a picture of what level of flood water there would be from the overtopping of a watercourse – this could be anything from a main river to a brook or even a ditch It would also give a read out to where the flood waters would gravitate.

But one has to remember this type of methodology is very much an independent report and could show a high risk to the proposed development in which case further works may be required depending on the results of the modelling.
